 37421 at Crewe with the 9.13 rugby special for Cardiff ex-Manchester Piccadilly. 2/3/2002

 37421, a former coastline regular, leaves platform 5 for Cardiff. 2/3/2002

 Shortly afterwards 37418 "East Lancashire Railway", another coastline regular, left the Diesel Depot to head South to the carriage sidings to collect its stock. 2/3/2002

 418 later reversed its stock, under radio control, into bay platform 7 in readiness for departure as the 10.28 for Cardiff. 2/3/2002

 Off to South Wales. 2/3/2002

 Purple Deltic 9016 was out on Crewe Diesel Depot yard after its long repose at Crewe. 1/3/2002

 86212 "Preston Guild 1328-1992" came off the Manchester line sporting a "new" pantograph and towed by 90012 "British Transport Police". They headed South through platform 1 and returned to sit on the platform 12 loop before running onto the Chester line. The 9.19 Holyhead-London arrived behind 47810 "Porterbrook" and the two AC electrics backed onto the train for the journey South, 86212 was dead at the rear. 1/3/2002

 Green machine 47851/D1648 "Traction Magazine" stormed North through the centre road with what appeared to be an ecs working. 1/3/2002

 The 12.17 for Aberdeen, ex-Plymouth, was unusually diverted into platform 1 which gave an opportunity for a different shot of an HST set at Crewe. The train was announced by its title "The Devon Scot" but does not carry any insignia. 43196 is seen here leading 43193. 1/3/2002

 The 11.45 for Liverpool, ex-Poole, left Crewe with 47818 "Strathclyde" in charge. 1/3/2002

 86222 "Clothes Show Live" left with the 12.00 for Edinburgh ex-Birmingham. 1/3/2002

 87013 "John O' Gaunt" waits to leave for London while 142012 heads East on the Chester-Manchester Airport shuttle. 1/3/2002
