 A former coastliner, 37717 "Berwick Middle School" was refuelled on Crewe Diesel Depot yard before being parked against the breakdown stock. 29/8/2003

 A favourite former coastliner is 37408 "Loch Rannoch" which appeared on the Sandbach - Arpley acid train - 29/8/2003

 408 arrived with two tankers and departed with one and is seen here waiting for a green while on its return run, it was held while 47784 "Condover Hall" left with the 10.21 Birmingham-Holyhead

 "Rannoch" had to wait longer for the 09.26 Holyhead-London HST formed by 43100 leading 43135. 29/8/2003

 After spending many days sat in the holding siding, 86212 "Preston Guild" slid through platform one with a Manchester-London diversion. Earlier 86259 "Les Ross" had travelled in the opposite direction DIT on the rear of a manchester bound train. Most Virgin trains had the distinct appearance of ecs workings with few passengers bothering to ride. One train had six passengers on board. 29/8/2003

 A Liverpool-London service was propelled by 87001 "Stephenson" with 90004 "City of Birmingham" sandwiched DIT. Why do Liverpool-London services regularly carry two locomotives - failures or positioning workings? 29/8/2003
