CHURNET VALLEY RAILWAY STEAM GALA
7th February 2009

Two delightfully atmospheric shots from Max Birchenough, the first taken early morning when the locomotives, 44422 and 47279, were being prepared at Cheddleton for service during the day.

The second shot shows the pair heading into the improving daylight en route for Froghall.

44422 was double heading with Jinty 47279 as it approached en route for Cheddleton.

On their return trip the pair were held outside Froghall station while some shunting took place.

Later they were employed as bankers, on this occasion pushing "Ring Haw" up the incline. Here they are seen dropping back to the station to take on water.

After watering, the two locomotives took the next train out to Cheddleton.
