6115 SCOTS GUARDSMAN
MAY 10th 2002

 MAY 1

6115 "Scots Guardsman" has finally been removed from Tyseley and transferred to the LNWR workshops at Crewe for restoration. There follows a series of images taken at Crewe on 10th May 2002.

Despite the awful scene of neglect the classic lines of this Stanier rebuild from the original Fowler design are still apparent.

Balanced on front bogie and rear drivers.

 Putting on a dignified face.

 More classic lines.

The engine is steeped in history, the rear wheel on the bogie shows "LMS" cast into the rim together with 1934. The lower shot is of the rear driver journal showing "1930" stamped on the shaft end. The original locomotive was built circa 1927 by North British Locomotive Company in Glasgow so clearly there was some swapping carried out over the years

 6115 disguised as a Bayer-Garratt!

 Contrasting subjects for restoration.
