The rugby special season
returns and the first one out is 37418 "East Lancashire
Railway" seen here about to leave Crewe for Shrewsbury
and South Wales.
Approaching Shrewsbury.
Waiting for a unit
to clear.
Ready for off.
The journey back to Crewe
was affected by a failed freight train South of Shrewsbury so
we were diverted via Chester. We arrived just in time to see
the next train reversing into the platform with 3 up front.
The motive power
was provided by the two Class 37's, numbers 37179 leading with
37038 behind. 47839 was in the consist to provide electric power
- some power station! 37038 is fresh from overhaul and looked
resplendent with its new paint job.
The lead locomotive.
The triple header
(well almost).
47839 has been
recently acquired by Riviera Trains and was repainted from Virgin
livery. The locomotive lacks any form of branding at the moment.
A lively getaway........
....indeed a smoky
getaway as the three round the curve for the Welsh Marches line.
