47787 "Windsor Castle" leaving Crewe with the Northern Belle heading North.......

....with 47785 "Fiona Castle" bringing up the rear. Who thought this one up? 8/11/2002

The morning loco hauled Holyhead-Manchester survived the trip OK but reached Sandbach as an ecs working when the class 47 locomotive failed. The engine, 47725 "Bristol Barton Hill" was rescued by 66139 and is seen here sneaking round the back of the station to deposit the ex-Virgin stock at the LNWR carriage sheds. 8/11/2002

The errant 47 was later pushed onto the diesel depot where it was parked up. I don't know what the replacement was. 8/11/2002

The morning London-Holyhead HST was again formed by 43101 leading 43154. 8/11/2002

The 10.04 FNW Birmingham-Holyhead service appeared on time with 47790 "Saint David/Dewi Sant" at the head. 8/11/2002

No class 37 on the Sandbach acid train as 56113 passes South through the station. 8/11/2002

A class 37 was around as 37706 reversed onto 47757 "Restitution" to be parked. 47812 "Pride of Eastleigh" is on the left. 8/11/2002

47270 "Cory Brothers" appeared from the Stoke line with a ballast train. This locomotive has luminous nameplates!!! 8/11/2002

Crewe Diesel Depot scrap lines offer a multitude of colours as the various locomotives await their fate. The class 37 in the foreground is 37717 and probably only waiting attention whereas the AC electrics on the left merely await their next turn of duty. 5/11/2002

Parked up with engine running was celebrity class 47 number 47826 "Springburn". 5/11/2002

The afternoon Holyhead-London HST was formed by 43154 leading 43101. 5/11/2002

The Birmingham-Holyhead services now include a locomotive hauled service in addition to the Manchester-Holyhead run. This loco hauled diagram was stopped at the end of the Summer timetable but has now been reintroduced. This train was hauled by 47653/D1733 "Rail Express" in XP64 livery and is coupled to ex-Virgin stock... and YES, I did ask the driver if it was all right to use flash. 5/11/2002

A Crewe-Paddington service formed by Super Voyager 221121 "Charles Darwin" was sat in bay platform 4 waiting for its 16.42 departure time. 5/11/2002

There are apparent complaints about the brightness of Voyager headlights - they certainly are bright as 221106 demonstrates while en route for Edinburgh. 5/11/2002
