I don't recall
this being a regular locomotive on the coast but it looked OK.
I believe that the train was terminated at Chester with a hot
box on one of the coaches. If the state of the windows is any
guide, the stock is becoming worse than the RR stock prior to
withdrawal. The markings on the 47 are a mystery to me! 13/1/2004
47480 "North
Star" was on thunderbird duty at the North end of
Crewe Station while 57303 "Alan Tracy"
was similarly "employed" at the South end. In the background
are 158754(L) and 158757 in FNW livery, both later left for Chester
(and beyond?). 13/1/2004
A very hasty and
blurred shot of 390035 - the significance? - the first Pendolino
I have seen in 9 coach formation. 13/1/2004
43123 was leading
43092 on the 08.35 London Euston - Holyhead. 13/1/2004
43122 was leading
43153 on the flip service. 13/1/2004
87021 "Robert
the Bruce" approaching Crewe with a London-Liverpool
service. 13/1/2004
87021 leaving Crewe.

Long shot of 021
with the DVT trailing. 13/1/2004
Another 87 on a
reverse working was 87029 "Earl Marischal"
with DVT 82108 at the rear. 13/1/2004
66549 headed South
with a set of empty flats. 13/1/2004
The 87's are certainly
plentiful on the WCML at the moment. 87003 "Patriot"
undertakes a Crewe, crew change before heading North while 47840
rests in the sunshine. 13/01/2004
The pale Winter sun combines with rain to produce
some strange effects. these are the disused bays at the South
end of the station looking towards the, now closed, Diesel depot.
Despite apparent closure there is still much activity at "CD". 13/01/2004
