 CHURNET VALLEY RAILWAY
STEAM GALA, 22nd OCTOBER 2017

Froghall station and the first train of the day is set to depart.

7820 "DINMORE MANOR" arrived to collect stock for the next train out and, thankfully, put some steam through the rake.

 Leaving Cheddleton.

33021 "CAPTAIN CHARLES" receiving attention at Cheddleton.

Cheddleton station rarely can be seen without stock parked somewhere.

 Just passing through.

 Consall gathering.

Last train of the day and there was detailed shunting to create a ten coach train with the two Western engines leading and the S160 trailing. The diesel was removed to the shed yard and shut down.

This guy was sat watching the proceedings, then heard the camera shutter and flew off towards the river.

Steam and Bulrushes, the charm of the valley is apparent throughout the year.

With ten on and three locomotives working, the train romped up to the Ipstones loop. The wind was blowing hard and cold with it so this poor chap had the worst of jobs.

It was light when we left Froghall but dark when we returned to find the stations nicely lit up as seen here at Consall.

Back at Froghall, similarly illuminated and the crowds dispersed, the effect was magical.

End of the day and probably the best I have experienced on the CVR with particular reference to the coaching stock and the catering staff who had been working wonders to cope with demand.
