71000 DUKE OF GLOUCESTER

71000 "Duke of Gloucester" powering away from Colwyn Bay station en route for Holyhead with a charter from Nottingham.

 Running with the A55.

Llandudno Junction and time to take on water.

The distinctive front end of this unique pacific.

While 71000 was taking on water, 175108 left heading East.

That front end again and the Phoenix headboard. Those who saw 71000 at Barry scrap yard will realise just how significant the headboard is.

A side shot of this beautifully symmetrical design.

The details - note the Caprotti valve gear.

A quick run round to Conwy and the archway into the station.

Opened up and blowing off as the train headed for Holyhead.
