CREWE STATION
November 17th 2000

The dwindling few. 37429 "Eisteddfod Genedlaethol", 37426 and 37421 at Crewe Diesel depot. 17/11/2000

175008 left platform 6 with a Manchester-Chester train and had to run south, reverse and run between platforms 11 and 12 for Chester. Electric arc welding on the track can be seen just beyond the train (inset)-a dangerous place to work. 17/11/2000

Track problems at the north end of platform 6 prevent normal operations so 175008 ran centre road north with 37401 "Mary Queen of Scots" held in platform 12 on the 8.47 Holyhead - Birmingham. This meant 37401 leaving 20 minutes down having been held by the 175. 17/11/2000

90014 entered from the south on a Virgin train. 17/11/2000

Currently a regular on the London-Holyhead run is HST set 43198+43078 seen here entering platform 12 with the 10.45 for Holyhead. 92032 "Cesar Franck" is in the background waiting for green. 17/11/2000

56062 passed through from the north with a short train of covered hoppers. This train looked like the Middlewich-Warrington but was a bit early. 17/11/2000

A smart looking 87005 "City of London" entered platform 6 with a northbound Virgin train. 17/11/2000

Class 47 number 47810 "Porterbrook" entered platform 6 with a train of inter-city style liveried stock....

......with 86236 "Josiah Wedgwood" attached to the rear. 17/11/2000

37401 "Mary Queen of Scots" finally left with the 8.47 Holyhead - Birmingham, a double amber indicating it had been slotted into the pathways. 17/11/2000

Freightliner liveried 66504 ran light engine into bay platform 8 and waited before running off south, presumably to the Freightliner depot at Basford. 17/11/2000
