A rail37.com PICTURE REPORT
  CREWE - CHESTER - BANGOR - HOLYHEAD
6100 ROYAL SCOT
PART TWO - 11th MARCH 2009
 Part one          Part three

6100 "Royal Scot" in steam for the first time in many years.

In order to get 6100 over the inspection pit some shunting was necessary.

The locomotive was not yet ready to move under its own power so it was slowly dragged back by the depot shunter.

 Other stock under repair/overhaul.

Richard fixed the number plate for a brief photo shoot.

 Looking a bit more respectable.

 Quite an expensive match wagon.

On its way to the pit.

Well the blower seems to be working OK.

 Some minor adjustments.

As the boiler pressure slowly built up it became apparent that the whistle valve was stuck in the partially open position. A strategically placed piece of rag had the desired effect while the valve was adjusted.

 Some line-up.

 Colin reflecting on "Lizzie".

Just before I left the valves were beginning to lift.

The smoke deflectors were being prepared for fitting.

My grateful thanks to Steve, Richard and the staff at LNWR for indulging me on this momentous occasion.
