Part 2

 Part 3

Deltic day on the coast and off to Colwyn Bay to photograph D9016 on the Steamy affairs charter from Milton Keynes to Holyhead and back. Dead on time and up aloft to shoot this one as the train approached. the next shot should have been a close up but you press the shutter and the batteries fail........ Ah well there is always the return trip. 7/9/2002

Well actually there wasn't because this time the focus was too slow as the train approached so one purple haze! A passing shot with strange looks from one passenger. 7/9/2002

Away again and rounding the headland to enter the tunnel. Rats to digital cameras and when is the next Deltic due on the coast? 7/9/2002

Royal power (for the time being?) on the coast as 47799 "Prince Henry" leaves Crewe with the 10.07 Birmingham-Holyhead. 4/9/2002

It looks black, it's actually a sort of maroon - just like the new car HRH has received (made in Crewe). 4/9/2002

Peeping through the metalwork with the morning Virgin, Holyhead-London service, D1733/47853 "Rail Express" stands in platform 11 waiting to be detached in favour of AC traction. 4/9/2002

 Detached and running light. 4/9/2002

The replacement AC traction was 90012 "British Transport Police". 4/9/2002

Big and still running are the class 87 AC electric locomotives. This example is 87006 "George Reynolds" with a northbound Liverpool service. 4/9/2002

Out of the mist off the Shrewsbury line came 37706 with a short rake of wood carriers. 4/9/2002

 Timber!

37698 shunted 47726 "Manchester Airport Progress" into the diesel depot and then parked up in the morning sunshine. 4/9/2002

Back from the Dead? It would appear that 37413 is being resurrected so a shot of this locomotive in service on the North Wales Coast arriving at Crewe with 1K57 on 10th August 2000 with 90014 alongside - happy days....
